Fifteen Star U.S. Flag, 1795 ~ 1818\n\nVermont and Kentucky joined the union.\nWith 15, it was the only Flag to have more than 13 stripes. This flag\ninspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star Spangled Banner," after he\nsaw the flag continue to fly over Fort McHenry following a British\nbombardment during the War of 1812.
